Lingams

This is the biggest

The biggest Shiva Lingam in Southeast Asia, standing 2.10 meters tall and 0.7 meters in diameter, was discovered in Vietnam in 1999.

Found at the Cat Tien archaeological site, the lingam was buried under a Hindu-influenced tower on a hill, approximately 50 meters above ground.

The site includes a collection of artifacts unearthed at a depth of 3.56 meters, featuring a stone Lord Ganesha statue, gold pieces, and other religious items.

Artefacts discovered include intricately carved gold pieces depicting Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and various animal figures and weapons.

These artefacts are currently on display at the Lam Dong Museum in the resort city of Dalat.

The Cat Tien archaeological site is located between two sectors of Cat Tien National Park in the southern Central Highlands.

Excavations from 1994 to 2001 at the site uncovered numerous valuable items, such as stone columns and lintels with different motifs and ceramics from the seventh century.

The site is significant in understanding the religious and cultural practices of the past civilization that thrived in this region.

The site was initially discovered by accident in 1985, adding an element of mystery and intrigue to its history.

The main temple at the site, now in ruins, is believed to have stood 18 meters tall and faced east, indicating its importance in the local religious landscape.
