The Indian Army has recently launched a Pan-India Motorcycle Expedition to honor the warriors of the Kargil War, marking its 25th anniversary.
About Kargil War (1999):
- The Kargil War was fought between India and Pakistan from May to July 1999 in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir and along the Line of Control (LoC).
- Pakistan’s objective was to sever the link between Kashmir and Ladakh, and it codenamed this attempt “Operation Badr.”
- The war began shortly after the signing of the Lahore Declaration in 1999.
- The Indian Army successfully evicted Pakistani intruders and recaptured key positions such as Tiger Hill during ‘Operation Vijay’.
