- Marrakesh is a UNESCO World Heritage Site & the fourth largest city in Morocco.
- The 12th century Koutoubia Mosque in the city is one of the city’s important landmarks.
Major developments in the Marrakesh:
- Marrakesh Agreement was signed in 1994 to create an integrated multilateral trading system named General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), later integrated with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
- The 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties of UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Marrakesh ended up as Marrakech Action Proclamation, urging countries to combat climate change as a matter of “urgent priority”.
- The Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action supports implementation of the Paris Agreement by enabling collaboration stakeholders that must act on climate change.
