About Nitrous Oxide:

  • This odorless, colorless, sweet-tasting, and non-flammable gas, also known as laughing gas, nangs, whippet, hippy crack, buzz bomb, or balloons, supports combustion.
  • It is used as anesthesia, in pressure packaging, and offers various therapeutic benefits, though it can cause effects like euphoria, sedation, blurred vision, and sudden death.
  • Nitrous oxide is naturally present in the environment and is primarily produced by agricultural activities, including the use of nitrogen fertilizers and animal manure, as well as by vehicular gas emissions.
  • It is the third most impactful greenhouse gas after CO2 and methane, with a warming potential 273 times greater than CO2 over a century.
