The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council has approved $736.4 million in funding for projects supported by the GEF Trust Fund, Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF), and Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF).
Project Highlights:
- Great Green Wall (GGW): Focuses on restoring landscapes and ecosystems across the Sahel region of Africa.
- Sustainable Cities Integrated Program (SCIP): Aims to catalyze urban system transformations across 20 countries.
Indian Projects Funded:
- A project aimed at enhancing conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity to align with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework targets.
- CoHABITAT: Focuses on the conservation and sustainable management of wetlands, forests, and grasslands to protect the population of migratory species along the Central Asian Flyway in India.
