Cyclone Remal, chosen by Oman which means ‘sand’ in Arabic, has recently made landfall in the coastal regions of eastern India and Bangladesh.
About Tropical cyclones:
- Tropical cyclones are rapidly rotating storms and low-pressure systems that form over tropical or sub-tropical oceans.
- They are also called Cyclones (Indian Ocean), Hurricanes (Atlantic), Typhoons (Western Pacific and South China Sea), and Willy-willies (Western Australia).
- They receive energy released from the condensation of heated droplets as cumulonimbus clouds circling around the storm centre (eye).
