About the NPPA:
- The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) is a regulatory agency under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers and attached to the Department of Pharmaceuticals.
- The NPPA was established by a Government of India resolution in 1997 with the primary function to implement and enforce the Drugs (Prices Control) Order.
- It also monitors drug availability, identifies any shortages, and implements remedial steps, as well as advises the Central Government on any changes or revisions needed in the drug policy.
