Delhi High Court rules that difficulty in collating information is not a valid reason to deny requests under the Right To Information (RTI) Act.

Exemptions to Right To Information (RTI) Act:

  • Information may be exempt from disclosure if it could harm the sovereignty and integrity of India.
  • Exempted if the information is forbidden to be published by any court of law or tribunal.
  • Information related to trade secrets or commercial confidence which could harm competitive position unless larger public interest warrants disclosure.
  • Despite the provisions of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, information can be disclosed if the public interest in disclosure outweighs the harm to protected interests.
