- Hydroxyurea, also known as Hydroxycarbamide, is part of the antimetabolites class of medications.
- It treats SCD by inhibiting the formation of sickle-shaped red blood cells.
- Besides SCD, Hydroxyurea is used to treat thrombocythemia, leukemia, and cervical cancer.
