About Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF):

  • Established in 1971, CMRF offers immediate assistance to individuals impacted by natural disasters, road accidents, fires, loss of life among family members, and health issues.
  • The fund is made up of voluntary donations from individuals, NRIs, service organizations, industrialists, artists, and writers.
  • Donations to the CMRF are exempt from income tax.

Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF):

  • It is a fund similar to CMRF.
  • PMNRF was established in 1948 by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and is entirely funded by public contributions.

Model Code of Conduct (MCC):

  • The MCC of ECI is a set of guidelines issued to regulate political parties and candidates prior to elections.
  • The rules range from issues related to speeches, polling day, polling booths, portfolios, the content of election manifestos, processions, and general conduct, so that free and fair elections are conducted.
  • The MCC comes into force from the date the election schedule is announced until the date that results are out.
  • It has no statutory backing.
