What is long-range arrow defence system?
- The long-range Arrow-2 and Arrow-3 system, developed by Israel with an Iranian missile threat in mind, is designedto intercept ballistic missiles outside the earth’s atmosphere.
- The Arrow system features a detachable warhead that collides with the target upon interception.
- It operates at an altitude that allows for the safe dispersal of any non-conventional warheads.
What is mid-range David’s sling?
- Designed to intercept drones, aircraft, and cruise missiles, the mid-range David’s Sling system successfully neutralizes threats launched from distances ranging from 100 km to 200 km.
- Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and the US’ Raytheon Co. manufactured it.
What is short-range Iron Dome?

- The ‘Iron Dome’ has been strategically covering Israel since 2011 to intercept incoming ballistic missiles and drones.
- It possesses the capability to handle multiple incoming threats simultaneously.
- State-owned Rafael Advanced Defense Systems developed it with US backing.
- Originally designed to provide city-sized coverage against rockets, missiles, and drones with ranges of 4 to 70 km (2.5 to 43 miles), the Iron Dome system has since been expanded due to the increasing threats to Israel in the Middle East, according to experts.
