Sabroom Land Port was recently inaugurated by the Prime Minister recently in Tripura, located along India-Bangladesh international border.
About the Sabroom Land Port:
- The Sabroom Land Port is situated at the southernmost tip of Tripura and is directly connected to Chittagong port of Bangladesh through the Maitree Setu (Friendship Bridge) over River Feni.
- The port will facilitate the movement of passengers and cargo between India and Bangladesh via road and railway links.
- It will grant landlocked countries in the region like Bhutan and Nepal access to the Bay of Bengal.
- Facilities at the port include a passenger terminal building, cargo administrative building, warehouse, etc.
- It is the 4th such landport along the India-Bangladesh border, the others being located at Agartala in Tripura, Dawki in Meghalaya, and Petrapole in West Bengal.
