Haryana has become the first state to launch schools under the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) program.

About PM Schools for Rising India:

  • PM SHRI School is a centrally sponsored scheme.
  • This initiative is intended to develop more than 14500 PM SHRI Schools.
  • They will be managed by the Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies including Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya.
  • It will provide a wide range of learning experiences, good physical infrastructure, and appropriate resources conducive to learning for all students.
  • It will nurture students to make them engagedproductive, and contributing citizens for building an equitableinclusive, and plural society as envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020.
  • More than 20 lakh students are expected to be the direct beneficiaries of the scheme.
  • The scheme will also promote an understanding of various dimensions of the Quality of school education and inform Policy, Practice, and Implementation.
  • The learning from these schools will be scaled up to other schools in the country.
  • It will be implemented over a period of 5 years from 2022-23 to 2026-27.
    • After this, it will be the responsibility of the states/UTs to continue to maintain the benchmarks of these schools.

  • Each such school is connected with a higher education institution for mentoring.
  • It is also linked to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem to improve vocational and internship opportunities.
  • Children in these schools will receive counseling for psychological well-being and career building.
  • Annual grants for these schools encompass library and sports components as well as expenses for math and science kits.
