About the PM SHRI Schools:
- The PM SHRI (Schools for Rising India) is a Centrally sponsored scheme, that aims to achieve qualitative teaching based on discussion, learning and cognitive development, with 21st century skills.
- It will help develop and upgrade 14,500 schools across the country by strengthening the existing schools.
- To be implemented from 2022-23 to 2026-27, it will have all components of the National Education Policy 2020.
Impact on schools:
- The exemplary school will offer mentorship to other schools in vicinity.
- The schools will have a modern method to impart education including labs, smart classrooms, libraries, sports equipment, art room.
- The schools will be developed as green schools with water conservation, waste recycling, energy-efficient infrastructure.

- Scheme will focus on achieving proficiency in learning abilities of every child in every grade.
- Assessments will be based on conceptual understanding; application of knowledge in real-life situations and integration of organic lifestyle in curriculum.
Other key facts:
- Vidhya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) is a technology-based model that helps real time monitoring of employees and other stakeholders.
- VSK was launched initially in Gujarat and will also be launched in Uttarakhand.
