About Anaemia Mukt Bharat (AMB)

  • Objective: Reduce the prevalence of Anaemia in children, adolescents, and women.
  • Launched: To achieve targets under the POSHAN Abhiyaan (2018).

6X6X6 Strategy

  • 6 Target Beneficiaries:
    • Children (6-59 months)
    • Children (5-9 years)
    • Adolescents (10-19 years)
    • Women of reproductive age (15-49 years)
    • Pregnant women
    • Lactating women
  • 6 Institutional Mechanisms:
    • Inter-ministerial coordination
    • Convergence with other ministries
    • Strengthening supply chain and logistics
    • Engaging National Centres of Excellence for capacity building
    • Monitoring through the AMB dashboard

About Mission Poshan 2.0:

  • Goal: Address malnutrition and improve health, wellness, and immunity through community engagement and outreach.
  • Focus Areas:
    • Maternal Nutrition
    • Infant and Young Child Feeding Norms
    • Treatment of Severe and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (SAM/MAM)
    • Wellness through AYUSH practices
  • Supplementary Nutrition: Provided to children (6 months to 6 years), pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls in specific regions.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Conducted during Poshan Maahs and Poshan Pakhwadas.

Rice Fortification Initiative

  • Objective: Combat Anaemia by supplying fortified rice enriched with iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12.
  • Implementation:
  • Fortified rice is included in Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM-POSHAN) Scheme, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, and other welfare schemes.
