The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the results of the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) for 2021-22 and 2022-23, conducted by the National Sample Survey Office.
Key Highlights:
- ASUSE focuses on unincorporated non-agricultural establishments in both rural and urban India, including proprietorships, partnerships (except Limited Liability Partnerships), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), co-operatives, societies, and trusts.
- Key findings for 2022-23 show an increase in the number of establishments from 5.97 crore in 2021-22 to 6.50 crore, marking a 5.88% annual growth, with 55% located in rural areas.
- Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra lead in the number of unincorporated non-agricultural establishments, while Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat/Tamil Nadu are top in terms of Gross Value Added (GVA), which increased by 9.83%.
- Approximately 54% of the proprietary establishments in the manufacturing sector are led by female proprietors.
- Enhanced digitization, such as online transactions and orders, has resulted in a 7.2% increase in internet usage for business purposes.
- The average outstanding loan per establishment rose to Rs. 50,138 in 2022-23, indicating improved loan availability in this sector.
