The Union government has recently transferred the authority to issue manufacturing licenses and No Objection Certificates (NOC) for drug exports from state governments to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
About the recent move:
- It has become the sole authority to issue manufacturing licenses for new drugs intended for export, aiming to reduce the time consumed by state drug regulators.
- All manufacturers are now required to obtain an NOC from the respective zonal offices of the CDSCO through the SUGAM Portal.
