Indian Railways has recently completed the first trial train run over the Chenab Rail Bridge in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, which is the world’s highest rail bridge, standing at 359 meters above the Chenab River and surpassing the height of the Eiffel Tower.
About the Chenab Rail Bridge:
- Known as the Chenab Arch Bridge, this engineering marvel can withstand high-velocity winds up to 260 kmph, extreme temperatures, and earthquakes, ensuring robust resilience.
- The bridge is a critical component of the Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, aiming to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India through a modern rail network.
