What are Chronic Diseases?
- Chronic diseases are long-term conditions that are usually controllable but not curable.
- They are caused by a short list of risk behaviours:
- Tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
- Poor nutrition, including diets low in fruits and vegetables and high in sodium and saturated fats.
- Physical inactivity.
- Excessive alcohol use.
- It is a disease or condition that usually lasts for 3 months or longer and may get worse over time.
- It tends to occur in older adults.
The most common types of chronic disease include Cancer, Heart disease, Stroke, Diabetes, and Arthritis
