Indian Army Contingent from Rajputana Rifles has recently departed for the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM) Plus Expert Working Group (EWG) on Counter Terrorism Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2023.

About Counter Terrorism Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2023:
- It is a multinational joint military exercise being hosted by Russia as a co-chair of the EWG along with Myanmar.
- It will comprise counter-terrorism drills including the destruction of terrorist groups in a fortified area.
- The main objective of the exercise is strengthening and promoting regional cooperation in the field of counter–terrorism.
- The ASEAN member states along with Plus Group will participate in the exercise.
- The Indian Army will be able to share its expertise and best practices in counter-terrorism operations and increase cooperation between the other 12 participating countries and get professional experience from the exercise.
About Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM) Plus:
- Since 2017, the ADMM-Plus meets annually, to allow enhanced dialogue and cooperation among ASEAN and the Plus Countries in the midst of an increasingly challenging regional security environment.
- It was inaugurated in Vietnam in 2010.
- It has become a platform for practical cooperation among the participating countries’ defence establishments.
- It currently focuses on following seven areas of practical cooperation:
- Maritime Security (MS),
- Counter-terrorism (CT),
- Humanitarian assistance and disaster management (HADR),
- Peacekeeping operations (PKO),
- Military medicine (MM),
- Humanitarian mine action (HMA), and
- Cyber Security (CS).
