Indian navy participated in the multinational maritime Exercise Cutlass Express in Seychelles.
About Exercise Cutlass Express:
- Exercise Cutlass Express is an exercise aimed at countering malign influence, aggression, and activity in the East African coastal regions and the West Indian Ocean.
- The exercise is sponsored by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and led by U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet.
- It involves maritime forces from East Africa, West Indian Ocean nations, Europe, North America, and various international organizations.
- Objectives: To enhance maritime law enforcement capacity, promote national and regional security, and improve interoperability among participating nations.
Participation of the Indian Navy:
- The Indian Navy has been participating in Exercise Cutlass Express since 2019.
- In Cutlass Express 2024, the Indian Navy engaged with participants from 16 friendly foreign countries.
