The Indian Army contingent has recently embarked to Seychelles for the 10th edition of the Joint Military Exercise “LAMITIYE-2024” between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF).
About the Exercise Lamitiye 2024:
- The Exercise Lamitiye 2024 is designed to strengthen cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces, stemming from its biennial tradition since 2001 and symbolizing “Friendship” in the Creole language.
- The exercise aims to enhance interoperability in Sub-conventional Operations in Semi-Urban environments under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peace Keeping Operations.
- Its objectives are to improve cooperation, exchange skills, and share experiences and best practices, with activities encompassing joint training, planning, and execution of tactical drills to neutralize threats in semi-urban areas using new-generation equipment and technology.
- Exercise Lamitiye 2024 features Field Training Exercises, combat discussions, lectures, and demonstrations, concluding with a two-day Validation Exercise aimed at fostering mutual understanding, jointness, and collaborative partnerships between the participating armies.
