The Supreme Court has recently set aside the extension of furlough to a double murder convict.
About Furlough:
- It is a type of leave granted to prisoners, during which their sentence is considered remitted.
- It is a substantial and legal right of prisoners and cannot be rejected if permitted by law.
- Defined under The Prisons Act of 1894, it is given in cases of long-term imprisonment on a regular basis.
- Every state has its own set of rules and guidelines for granting furlough.
