Scientists have recently developed a one-atom-thick sheet of gold named ‘Goldene’.
About the Goldene:
- It forms a semiconductor layer about 100 nanometers thick.
- It is crafted by embedding a monolayer of silicon between layers of titanium carbide and subsequently depositing gold onto this structure.
- This arrangement forms a sandwich structure.
Applications:
- Catalyst: It can function effectively as a catalyst.
- Hydrogen Production: Useful for hydrogen production.
- Carbon Dioxide Conversion: Effective in CO2 conversion.
- Water Purification: Can be employed for water purification purposes.
