The I2U2 group of India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the United States announced a new joint space venture that aims to create a “unique space-based tool” for policymakers, institutions, and entrepreneurs.
About I2U2:
- It is aimed at encouraging joint investments amongst 4 nations in six mutually identified areas such as water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security.
- Also known as the West Asian Quad, it was conceptualized during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries in 2021.
Projects in India:
- Integrated food parks: India will provide land, and the UAE will invest US$ 2 billion in the project.
- With expertise from the US and Israeli private sectors, the food parks will help “maximise crop yields which, in turn, will help tackle food insecurity in South Asia and the Middle East”.
- Hybrid renewable energy project: It will be constructed in Gujarat consisting of 300 megawatts of wind and solar capacity, with investment from the UAE and support from Israel and the US.
