Kilkari and Mobile Academy Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare virtually launched the Kilkari programme and Mobile Academy in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
About the Kilkari:
- It offers local content to beneficiaries through a centralized IVR-based mobile health service and Mobile Academy.
- It delivers 72 free weekly audio messages about pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare directly to families’ mobile phones from the 2nd trimester of pregnancy until the child is 1 year old, covering topics on reproductive maternal, neonatal, and child healthcare.
- The name Kilkari signifies ‘a baby’s gurgle’.
- Women registered in the Reproductive Child Health (RCH) portal, based on their LMP (last menstrual period) or the child’s Date of Birth, receive these calls.
- It is powered by the Mobile Technology for Community Health (MOTECH) platform.
- It is hosted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for all States/UTs, and is implemented in 18 States/UTs.
- The second trimester is the period between 13 to 27 weeks of pregnancy.
About the Mobile Academy:
- Itis an IVR-based free audio training course aimed at enhancing the skills of ASHA workers through mobile phones, offering an accessible training method that supports simultaneous training of multiple workers, also powered by MOTECH.
