- Initial symptoms of mpox include fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and swollen lymph nodes.
- Within days, a rash typically begins on the face before spreading to other parts of the body.
- This rash can resemble that of chickenpox or syphilis and eventually forms scabs that later fall off.
- The incubation period ranges from 5 to 21 days, typically starting around 6 to 13 days after exposure.

- Currently, there is no specific treatment approved for mpox.
How to prevent mpox?
- Avoid contact with infected individuals and animals,
- Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer,
- Practice respiratory hygiene by sneezing or coughing into the crook of the arm, and
- Avoid unprotected sexual contact with individuals suspected of having the virus.
