About Nyishi Tribe:
- They are tribal people of eastern Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, the largest ethnic group.
- They speak Nyishi language, a Sino-Tibetan language.
- They were earlier known as Daffla.
- They believe that they are the descendants of Abo Tani, the progeny of the first human being on Earth. Hence, Nyishi, Adi, Gallo, Tagin, Apatani, Mishings call themselves the Tani Group of Tribes.
- They are not stratified into classes nor divided based on the caste system, except for a loose type of social distinction, which is not determined by birth or occupation.
- They perform Rikhampada Dance during the Nyokum festival.
