The Indian Army has recently undertaken Project ‘Udbhav’ to integrate India’s ancient strategic wisdom into contemporary military practices.
About Project Udbhav:
- Project Udbhav aims to enrich India’s defence by integrating strategic knowledge from India’s history, including from Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, Chanakya’s Arthashastra, Mahabharata, etc, that is relevant in modern times & can address modern challenges.
- For example, Chanakya’s Arthashastra stresses the importance of strategic partnerships, alliances & diplomacy, aligning with modern military practices.
- Launched in 2023, Project Udbhav is a collaboration between the Indian Army and the United Service Institution of India (USI).
- The term ‘Udbhav’ means ‘origin’ or ‘genesis’.
