The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has recently notified the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which took effect on June 21, 2024.
About the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024:
- This Act aims to prevent the use of unfair means in public examinations and common entrance tests, enhancing transparency, fairness, and credibility.
- Public examinations are defined as those conducted by authorities notified by the central government, including the Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, NTA, and others.
- The Act identifies 15 actions considered as unfair means in public examinations, such as leakage of question papers, providing solutions, and tampering with answer sheets.
- All offenses under this Act are cognizable, non-bailable, and non-compoundable.
