About the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024:
- This Act aims to prevent the use of unfair means in public examinations and common entrance tests, enhancing transparency, fairness, and credibility.
- Public examinations are defined as those conducted by authorities notified by the central government, including the Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, NTA, and others.
- The Act identifies 15 actions considered as unfair means in public examinations, such as leakage of question papers, providing solutions, and tampering with answer sheets.
- All offenses under this Act are cognizable, non-bailable, and non-compoundable.
