: “Regulations for the 70th National Film Awards 2022” have recently introduced several changes, including renaming the ‘Indira Gandhi award for best debut film of a director‘ to ‘Best debut film of a director‘.
Key Highlights of the changes:
- The ‘Nargis Dutt Award for best feature film on national integration‘ has been updated to ‘Best feature film promoting national, social, and environmental values‘, consolidating awards related to social issues and environmental conservation.
- Prize money for the ‘Best debut film of a director‘ will now be awarded exclusively to the director, changing from the previous division between the director and producer.
- A new category, ‘best AVGC (animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics) film‘, combines the awards for best animation film and best special effects.
- The ‘best audiography‘ category, previously comprising three sub-categories, has been streamlined to ‘best sound design‘.
