About the ‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ initiative:
- The ‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ initiative aims to revolutionize infrastructure planning and design in India by leveraging advancements in 5G, IoT, AI, AR (Augmented reality), VR (Virtual reality), AI native 6G, Digital Twin, and next-gen computational technologies.
- It will help transform India’s infrastructure landscape, generate social impact, and address real-world challenges by bringing together all stakeholders on one platform.
- It will take place in a major city in India in 2 stages- the Exploration stage and the Demonstration stage, showcasing the use of virtual replicas for optimizing planning processes and achieving transformative outcomes.
About the Digital Twin technology:
- It represents a digital representation of a physical object, process, or person, enabling the simulation of behaviour to enhance understanding and decision-making.
- It is distinguished from traditional simulation by its use of real-time data updates, and is employed across various sectors including power generation, manufacturing, healthcare, and automotive industries.
