Indonesia recently initiated large-scale seaweed cultivation projects in East Lombok (Indonesia), in collaboration with India.

  • Seaweed refers to various marine plants and algae that grow in oceans, rivers, and other water bodies, particularly in marine and shallow coastal waters and on rocky shores, including kelp and red algae.
  • These organisms are mostly medium-sized and come in red, green, brown, and black colors.
  • Seaweed serves as a renewable source for food, energy, chemicals, and medicines due to its rich content in vitamins, minerals, fibers, being low in calories and protein, and containing anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial agents.
