About Tactical Nuclear Weapons:

  • Range: Short-range nuclear weapons with ranges of less than 500 km for land-based missiles and less than 600 km for air- and sea-based missiles.
  • Examples: Include aerial bombs, warheads for short-range missiles, and artillery munitions.
  • Alternative Name: Also called “non-strategic nuclear weapons.”
  • Purpose: Less powerful and generally designed for use against troops and weapons on the battlefield.
