CSIR-SERC (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research- Structural Engineering Research Centre) and L&T Construction, a private sector, recently signed an agreement for the transfer of technology for corrosion-free Textile Reinforced Concrete Prototyping Technology (TRCPT).
About the collaboration:
- The collaboration aims to introduce an indigenous solution for the economical mass production of TRC components.
About the Textile Reinforced Concrete Prototyping Technology:
- The Textile Reinforced Concrete Prototyping Technologyis a non-conventional construction material that combines fine-grained cementitious binder and non-metallic textile reinforcement for the economical mass production of TRC components, boasting India as its patent holder.
- As a precast technology, it involves casting concrete portions of a structure at a location other than the construction site, eliminating the use of steel to resist corrosion effectively.
- The base material for the technical textile, ‘Build Tech,’ is made from alkali-resistant glass fiber, ensuring longevity and durability with a minimum lifespan of 50 years, highlighting its sustainability and longevity in construction projects.
