The Ministry of Defence (MoD) recently entered into a contract for the anti-drone (Vajra sentinel system) under the iDEX (Indian Defence Exhibition) initiative.
About the Vajra sentinel system:
- The Vajra sentinel system offers a cutting-edge solution for detecting, tracking, and neutralizing drones.
- The system employs passive RF sensor technology to enhance precision in threat detection by eliminating false alarms, with its core sensor utilizing AI (Artificial Intelligence)and computer vision algorithms for accurate identification, classification, and location of drones.
- Incorporating Advanced Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar and kamikaze drones, the Vajra sentinel system stands out for its state-of-the-art technology that can be updated based on user needs.
- It features a sophisticated decision-making matrix for autonomous countermeasures, enabling both soft kill through signal jamming and hard kill by interceptor drones, ensuring compliance with military standard specifications for durability and reliability.
- With an operational range of 10 km, the system’s hard kill capabilities can be activated from 5 to 6 km away, showcasing its robust defensive potential.
