The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted two flight tests of the Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile from Integrated Test Range off Odisha’s Chandipur.
About VSHORADS Missile:
- VSHORADS is an indigenously developed Very Short-Range Air Defence System missile.
- It is classified as a MANPADS (Man-Portable Air Defence System).
- The development was led by Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian Industry Partners.
- The missile features many novel technologies including a miniaturized Reaction Control System (RCS) and integrated avionics.
- It is propelled by a dual-thrust solid motor.
- It is designed to neutralize low-altitude aerial threats at short ranges.
