The World Hydrogen Summit 2024 was recently organized by the Sustainable Energy Council along with the Netherlands government in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
About Green Hydrogen:
- Produced using renewable energy (wind, solar), eliminating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Comparison with Grey & Blue Hydrogen:
- Grey Hydrogen: Accounts for 95% of current production, made using electricity from fossil fuels, emits GHGs.
- Blue Hydrogen: Produced with fossil fuel-generated electricity but uses carbon capture and storage (CCS) to reduce GHGs.
Significance of Green Hydrogen adoption:
- Environmental Impact: Replaces fossil fuels with Green Hydrogen, promoting decarbonization.
- Energy Independence: Reduces fuel import dependence by using Green Hydrogen and its derivatives (Green Ammonia, Green Methanol).
- Economic and Ecological Benefits: Supports both environmental sustainability and economic resilience.
