A recent inscription discovered at the Sri Madhava Perumal Temple reveals a major trade route over 1,000 years old, linking western Tamil Nadu with south Karnataka and Kerala. This route passed through the River Bhavani and Moyar.

- The Sri Madhava Perumal Temple, located in Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to Thondreeshwaramudiayar (Lord Shiva).
- It has been largely submerged due to the waters from the Bhavanisagar Dam.
- Constructed during the Hoysala era (1338) by Veera Siddha Keththaya Dhandanayaka, it is situated inside the Danaikan/Dhandanayaka Fort.
