- Globally, there are 281 million international migrants, including 117 million displaced individuals, representing the highest ever recorded.
- India, Mexico, and China were the top three remittance recipients in 2022.
India:
- India leads in international migrants, with about 18 million primarily in the UAE, U.S., and Saudi Arabia.
- It received the highest remittances globally, totaling $111 billion in 2022.
- Climate impacts have triggered internal migration, especially in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
