About Alaknanda River:
- The Alaknanda River originates from the Alkapuri Glacier at an elevation of 3641m.
- This glacier combines the snouts of the Bhagirath Kharak and Satopanth glaciers.
- At its origin, Lake Satopanth, a triangular lake situated at a height of 4402 m, is named after the Hindu trinity: Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva.
Confluence Points (Panch Prayag):
- Vishnuprayag: Alaknanda meets Dhauliganga.
- Nandaprayag: Alaknanda meets Nandakini.
- Karnaprayag: Alaknanda meets Pindar.
- Rudraprayag: Alaknanda meets Mandakini.
- Devprayag: Alaknanda meets Bhagirathi; beyond this point, it is known as the Ganga.

- The river rises at the confluence of the Satopanth and Bhagirath glaciers in Uttarakhand.
