The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) marks 10 years of technology and innovation for adaptation, mitigation, and resilience.
About CTCN:
- Established in 2014 under the Paris Agreement, CTCN hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
- The CTCN is the implementation arm of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Technology Mechanism and is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- It focuses on accelerating the development and transfer of environmentally sound technologies to developing countries for energy-efficient, low-carbon and climate-resilient development.
- It mobilises the expertise of a global network of over 760 civil society, finance, private sector, and research institutions to deliver technical assistance and capacity building at the request of developing countries.
UNFCCC Technology Mechanism:
- It was established in 2010 to help countries develop and transfer climate technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change.
- The Technology Mechanism is made up of two bodies: the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN).
