Dust storm has recently hit Delhi, with strong winds and light rain.
About the Dust storm:
- Created when turbulent wind lifts dust or sand particles to greater heights, often reducing visibility.
- Also known as sandstorms.
- When associated with a thunderstorm, it generally carries very little rain, and the strong winds lift loose dust from dry land in arid and semi-arid regions.
- “Aandhi” is a convective dust storm experienced by Northwest India, majorly affecting Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and West Uttar Pradesh.
- Types depend on wind speed and visibility, varying from slight to moderate to severe.
- According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the severity and frequency of dust storms will increase due to rising global temperatures.
