Recently, the Bajau Laut, a seafaring indigenous tribe, were evicted in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. This tribe, which also resides in the Philippines and Indonesia, lacks citizenship and basic fundamental rights.
Location of Malaysia:
- Malaysia, located in Southeast Asia just north of the Equator, comprises two regions: Peninsular Malaysia on the Malay Peninsula and East Malaysia on the island of Borneo.
- It shares borders with Thailand to the north, Singapore to the south, Indonesia to the south and east of East Malaysia, Brunei to the north, and is flanked by the South China Sea and Andaman Sea.
- The country is known for the Malacca and Balabac Straits, major rivers like the Pahang (its longest), and significant lakes such as Kenyir (the biggest artificial lake in Southeast Asia).
- Notable mountains include Kinabalu and Korbu.
