A flight bound for Nicaragua, carrying 303 Indians, was recently halted in France over alleged human trafficking suspicions concerning the location of Nicaragua.
About Nicaragua:
- Nicaragua is the largest of the Central American republics.
- It is bounded by Honduras to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east, Costa Rica to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west.
- Biodiversity: Lake Managua is the only freshwater lake where sharks live, which enter the lake by the Rio San Juan River from the Atlantic Ocean.
- Many exotic animals like toucans, boa constrictors, monkeys, wild boars, jaguars, sloths, Manatees and sea turtles can be found.
- Immigrants issue: Nicaragua and El Salvador are chosen as points of entry for immigrants trying to reach the US border due to the geographical challenges posed by the Darién Gap.
- The Darien gap is a dense and perilous rainforest at the border between Colombia and Panama.
