Slovenia became the latest European Union country to recognize an independent Palestinian state.
Location of Slovenia:
- Slovenia is located in central Europe.
- It shares its land boundaries with four neighbouring countries: Austria to the north, Hungary to the far northeast, Croatia to the east, southeast, and south, and Italy to the west and southwest.
- It also boasts a coastline along the Gulf of Venice, which is part of the northern Adriatic Sea.
- Away from the coastal area, its terrain features karstic plateaus, ridges, and Alpine peaks.
- About two-fifths of its area is covered by the Alpine region.
- Its major rivers include the Sava, a tributary of the Danube, and the Dravinija.
- The highest point in Slovenia is Mount Triglav.
